Leviticus Worksheet ~ Leviticus, Chapter 18

pursuing-purity-logo

 Leviticus Chapter 18

1.  What is the first thing that the Lord wants Moses to make known to the sons of Israel? vs.1,2

2.  What customs and cultures are His people not to follow? vs. 3 - Name 2 given

3.  How are we told the same thing as His people today?

  •  James 4:4
  • 1 John 2:15-17

4.  Back to Leviticus 18.  Because He is the Lord, their God, what are they to perform and live by? vs. 4 - Name 2 things

5.  If they keep His statutes and judgments, what will they receive? vs. 5

6.  How does this compare to what we are taught in the New Testament also?

  • 1 John 5:12
  • Galatians 6:8

7.  Back to Leviticus 18.  God commanded that they not approach any blood relative to uncover their nakedness (vs.6).  He got very specific about who this would include: your father, your mother, your father's wife, your sister, whether your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, your father's wife's daughter, your sister, your father's sister, your mother's sister, your father's brother, your father's brother's wife, your aunt, your daughter-in-law, your brother's wife... all INCEST situations ..(vs.6-17) .. What did the Lord call such a thing? vs. 17b

Note:  In Leviticus verses 18-20, there are more instructions given to the culture at the time, and verse 20 comes back to one of the 10 commandments, "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife".  We saw in Chapter 15 about how a man was not to be with a woman during her menstrual cycle because of respect for the blood of the egg that was not conceived; it is the shedding of the death of that potential life.  Most of these things, we would not do by our natural conscience, but if they are not outlined, some could defend themselves for these things.

8.  Who were they not to give any of their offspring to? vs. 21

Note: The ancients would heat this idol up with fire until it was glowing, then they would take their newborn babies, place them on the arms of the idol, and watch them burn to death. They believed by giving Molech their firstborn, this god of fertility would give them many more in return.  Today we are also sacrificing children for our own indulgences and gain.  We are not being so obvious about it; yet, how many babies are aborted for convenience sake every day in our countries?

9.  What does God call an abomination in verse 22?

10.  Is this supported in the New Testament as well?  Read the following verses and give your comments about them:

  • Romans 1:18-32
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
  • 1 Timothy 1:8-11

Note:  Back to Leviticus 18.. (vs.23) .. Next, God addresses sex with animals.  As sick as that sounds to us, our culture of internet pornography is sickened with these types of things.  There is such a danger to sexual addictions today because one craves "more and more" to be as "rushed" as before, thereby becoming more perverted and disgusting and abominable.

11.  God tells them not to defile themselves with any of the things He has been specific about.  He told them that the very nations that He was going to drive out before them had become defiled by these things.  They were the ones worshiping Molech and other fasle gods, they were perverse in their sexuality, and they were being destroyed because of it.  Who was their punishment coming from? vs. 24b

12.  Who punished Sodom & Gomorrah and why?  Read Genesis 19:1-26

13.  Back to Leviticus 18.  God's people are to keep His statutes and judgments.  If they do any of these abominations, they will be destroyed.  (vs.26-30) Will we escape these punishments if our countries forget God and become defiled in these ways?

14.  The Lord finishes this segment as He began it.  Why are they to obey these things? vs. 30

Application:

15.  What will keep us from behaving immorally when our culture screams that all things are okay?

  1. Motivation to Please God - He said "no".
  2. Living Different shines His Light into this dark world.
  3. Sexual Purity is healthy for my mind, soul, & body.
  4. Immorality will be judged by God.

16.  Jesus said "If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it would be better to enter eternal life without your hand than be in hell." ... (Read Matthew 5:26-30) Does He man literally cut it off?  What can you "cut out" and "cut off" to help you avoid sexual temptations?  Maybe the computer needs parental controls; let someone else put the code in so you won't know it.  Maybe you need to get rid of the movie channels that stream in the seductive movies.  How about the reading materials in your home?  Just think about the things that could help you live a life of purity even in our sex-crazed culture.

17.  Summarize this lesson and post a prayer if you would like.

Leviticus Worksheet ~ Leviticus Chapter 17

 Pg3 Cr1

 Leviticus Chapter 17

1.  According to Leviticus 17:1-4, what was the only way an ox, lamb, or goat was to be killed? (vs.4)

2.  What was the person guilty of if they killed the animal for any other reason and what would happen to him as a consequence? vs. 4

3.  What was to be the only reason for these animals giving their life? vs. 5,6

4.  What pagan practice were they to give up altogether? vs. 7

5.  What would happen to any man of the house of Israel, or from the aliens that sojourned with them, if they offered a burnt offering any other way than to bring it to the tent of meeting? vs. 8,9

6.  What would happen if any man of the house of Israel, or any alien who sojourned with them ate any blood? vs. 10,12

7.  What does God say about blood and its purpose?  vs. 11 -

8.  If a man caught a beast or bird through hunting (of those clean to eat), what were they to do with the blood before they prepared it for eating? vs. 13 -

9.  In the life of all flesh, what is it's blood identifed with? vs. 14

Note..Blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11; 14). Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled" and many died as a result (e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary to bring life-giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that "the life of the flesh is in the blood" long before science understood its function. Your life is in your blood. In fact, when you think about it your blood is amazing! Your blood has a unique foot print. One drop of your blood will identify you. Isn't the discovery of dna amazing and yet God knew this from the beginning; that the blood identifies us.  Of course He knows; He is the master planner of the dna in each person!  It may look red and ordinary. It may share many similarities with other people's blood, but make no mistake your blood remains precious. An adult human has approximately 100,000 miles of veins transporting precious blood to all the regions of the body! It carries oxygen, DNA and so on throughout your body.

10.  What was a person to do if they ever ate of an animal that had died or been torn by other beasts? vs.15

11.  What would they bear if they did not do this? vs. 16

Application:

12.  This chapter is letting us know how precious "blood" is to God, the Creator of all living things.  There should be respect about animal life and human life.  Ultimately, He wanted the sons of Israel to understand that the shed blood of animals was atonement (covering) until the time when Christ would shed His blood once for all.  John the Baptist introduced Jesus as the Lamb of God, whose "takes away" the sins of the world.  He did that through His shed blood on calvary.  Let's end this lesson thinking about the "blood of the Lamb" and about "life that is in the blood".  Amen.  Look up the verses and comment on them.

  • Matthew 26:26-28 -
  • John 1:1-4 -
  • John 6:47-58 -
  • John 10:10 -
  • Acts 20:28 -
  • 1 Peter 1:18,19 -
  • Hebrews 10:19-22
  • Revelation 5:8-10 -

13.  Can you imagine being a good Jew that had been taught to not ever drink blood and then to have Jesus tell you to drink His blood or you would not have eternal life.  They would have to realize that it was a word picture, not a literal thing.  Of course Jesus was not canibalized.  Yet, if blood has the identity of who we are, and we are to drink His blood to have eternal life; He is saying "identify" with Me, consume Me, allow Me to have My life living in you.  How did Paul describe this "identity" in the book of Romans?

  • Romans 6:4-11

14.  Summarize this lesson and post a prayer if you would like.

Leviticus Worksheet ~ Leviticus, Chapter 15

Leviticus 15 - "Cleanliness & Holiness"

1.  Read Leviticus 15:1-15.  This is the Lord talking to Moses and Aaron about a man having a discharge or emission through his sexual organs due to a long-term illness which could include venerial diseases, skin infections, or anything that woud result in liquid coming from his body in this way.  He could not come into the tabernacle and have fellowship with God until he had been cleansed (healed) from the discharge.  At that time, he was to count off 7 days for his cleansing and then bathe his body in running water to become clean.  What was he to do on the 8th day after his cleansing and the day after his bathing in water? vs. 14 -

2.  What were they to be offered for by the priest? vs.15a - Name 2 offerings

3.  What was the priest doing for the one who had the unclean discharge and then had been cleansed? vs. 15

Note:  Whoever touched the person with the discharge had become unclean also and was required to wash their clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.  Things that had come in contact with the person - all vessels and furniture, etc. had to be cleansed.  It is God's way of keeping others protected and in good health.  An unclean physical person would bring defilement to the tabernacle as well, and so the person had to be physically well, and then spiritually well through the atonement sacrifices before he could enter back into the fellowship with the Lord in His temple.  Remember, everything in His temple cries, "Holy, Holy, Holy" !

4.  Read Leviticus 15:16-18.  God is specific about the discharge of semen from the man.  Although things became unclean through this, both the man and the woman in intercourse, they only need to bathe in water and be unclean for entering the tabernacle until evening.  There is no need for an atonement for this God-given gift to them.  ((amen))  What does God say about the need for a man and woman to be sexually satisfied with one another in the covenant of marriage?  Read the verses below and please share your thoughts about it as well.

  • 1 Corinthians 7:1-5

Valentine Doves

5.  Read Leviticus 15:19-30 - These verses relate to emissions that come from a woman's body in relation to her monthly feminine cycle, and long-term illness.  In the same way as the man, she could not come into the tabernacle and have fellowship with God until she had been cleansed (healed) from the discharge. At that time, she was to count off 7 days for her cleansing and then bathe her body in running water to become clean. What was she to do on the 8th day after his cleansing and the day after her bathing in water? vs. 29 -

6.  What were they to be offered for by the priest? vs.30a - Name 2 offerings

7.  What was the priest doing for the woman who had the unclean discharge and then had been cleansed? vs. 30b

Note:  It seems like this would bring the woman through this process every month if she had her regular monthly cycle.  Of course, during pregnancy that cycle stops for 9 months.  There are the laws of motherhood after a child is born as well (remember these from Leviticus Chapter 12) ...

8.  If a woman had a discharge that was not her normal female cycle, but it lasted days beyond that, she was to remain unclean as in her cycle and stay that way until the healing came so that she could continue with ceremonial cleansing and atonement by the priest. (vs.25) - This makes us think of the woman with the hemmorage that had lasted for 12 years!  Can you imagine what it was like for her to not be able to touch another person during those years and how she had used up all of her money to doctors to be healed and yet she had not been?  Let's read the story and see how her faith in Jesus and touching His garment changed it all!  Read Mark 5:24-34.

9.  Let's look at Mark 5:24-34 for reflection. ... How long had she been hemorraging? vs. 25 .... What happened after she spent all she had on physicians to help her? vs. 26 ... What did she think when she realized Jesus was passing through her town? vs.27-28 ... When she reached out and touched the hem of His garment, what happened to her? vs.29 ... What did she sense immediately? vs. 29b ... What did Jesus perceive immediately? vs. 30  .... Jesus asked "Who touched My garments?" (vs.30)   ... What did His disciples reason about? vs. 31 ... Jesus looked around to see the woman who had done this (vs.32).  The woman feared and trembled, aware of what had happened to her.  What was her response to Jesus? vs. 33 ... What did Jesus say that her "faith" had done for her? vs. 34a .... What was His words to her concerning this?  Did she need to go through any rituals at that time? vs. 34b .... What do you think it felt like for her to finally be able to "have peace" after feeling as though her "uncleanness" had kept her from God and all she had loved? ... (Answer the questions and then share your thoughts to the final question) .....

 10.  Back to Leviticus 15.  What was the purpose for the sexual cleanness laws? vs. 31-33

feature 970409 purity main1

Application:

11.  Do you see God's reasoning of wanting our sexual purities and how it can effect our relationship with others and with worshiping Him as well?  Look up the following verses and comment:

  • 1 Corinthians 6:13
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:2-8

12. What is "immorality" defined as by the Lord?

  • Galatians 5:19

13. If a person has an "immoral lifestyle"; if they "engage" in these things as a "habit of life", what is evident about them?

  • Galatians 5:21
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9
  • 2 Corinthians 12:21
  • Ephesians 5:3-5

14. If we are a Christian, we have died to ourselves and we are living for the Lord. What will be "evident" in a Spirit-filled believer who is walking in the Spirit and crucifying the deeds of the flesh as they try to crop up? Name 9 evidences of His Spirit living through us from the verses below:

  • Galatians 5:22-23 - Name 9 -

1)2)3)4)5)6)7)8)9)

15. Did you notice the last thing listed? What was it?

16. We must realize that self-control is not something we can do in our own strength; it is a fruit of "His Spirit" living within us and working through us. What does the following verse tell us?

  • Galatians 5:16

17. Will it always be easy? Can we expect a battle with our fleshly desires? Why or why not?

  • Galatians 5:17
  • Matthew 26:41
  • Romans 8:6
  • Romans 8:13
  • 1 Peter 1:13-16
  • 1 Peter 2:11
  • 1 Peter 4:1-5

18. With the Spirit's help, we will be able to overcome the desires of the flesh and walk in cleanliness and holiness as God desires. It's not about having "self-control", but giving Him "complete control" because His Spirit will produce within you the 9 things including "self-control" - it is from Him. Be more concerned with being filled with His presence, His Word, His Spirit and you will not focus on the things of the flesh. Read and comment on these verses:

  • Colossians 3:5-7 -
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • 2 Timothy 2:21-22
  • 1 Corinthians 6:18

19.  What can we do to perfect (complete; bring to maturity) our holiness in the Lord (aka: sanctification) ?

I.  As a Christian, realize we have already been:  washed (salvation); sanctified (set apart for the Lord); and justified (legally declared not guilty).

1 Corinthians 6:11

II.  Therefore, there is need only to confess to be cleansed of all unrighteousness as we get ourselves dirty (unclean) in the world.

John 13:10,11

1 John 1:9

III.  Continue ongoing cleansing (sanctification process) as we mature:

2 Corinthians 7:1

2 Timothy 2:19-21

lV.  Flee (Run from) Sexual Immorality - It harms your body!

1 Corinthians 6:18

V.  Don't hang out with those who claim to be "believers" but continue to live "immorally" - Bad company corrupts good morals.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11

Vl. Get Dressed "in Jesus" each day.

Romans 13:13,14

Vll.  Remember, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:19

Vlll.  We are not our own; we have been bought with a price!

1 Corinthians 6:20

Leviticus Worksheet ~ Leviticus Chapter 16

Review & Intro:  Remember that back in chapter 10, we saw that Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu offered strange fire to the Lord and were killed. God is now going to tell Moses how Aaron can avoid that same fate.  Although the priests duties in the tent of the tabernacle included entering the Holy Place to perform his duties (offering incense on the altar, replacing the show bread, and keeping the lampstand continually burning), he was forbidden to go behind the veil into the Holy of Holies - except on the Day of Atonement, what we know of as Yom Kippur.

Day-of-Atonement

Leviticus Chapter 16

1.  Read Leviticus 10:1-3.  What happened to Aaron's sons and why?

21.  What did Aaron offer up in smoke on the altar after that? vs. 25

22.  The person who "released" the scapegoat had to also wash his clothes and bathe his body with water before he came back into the camp. (vs.26) ... What was done with the bull of the sin offering (made for the High Priest) and the goat of the sin offering (made for the people) after the blood had been brought in to make atonement in the holy place? vs. 27b

Leviticus Worksheet ~ Leviticus Chapter 14

Review & Intro:  In chapter 13, we looked at the way the priests were to determine if a person had leprosy or not.  We saw that if a person was declared "unclean" because they had leprosy, they had to live outside the camp because they were contagious to others.  We saw the devestating effects of leprosy and how it would completely destroy a person if God did not intervene and heal them.  The lepers were always hopeful that the priest would come out and inspect them to find that they had been healed.  There was no cure; their only hope was God's mercy upon them.  In this chapter, chapter 14, we see what happens when a person has been healed and how the priest "cleanses" them to be brought back into the fellowship of the people and in the presence of God again.  What an encouraging chapter this is!  We belong to a God of hope and restoration.  The God of comfort and endless grace.  Jesus is willing to cleanse us from sin.  Will we be "cleansed" today, whether by salvation or by renewing of regeneration of the Spirit?
hires leviticus 14
Leviticus Chapter 14 - "Be Cleansed"
1. What was the priest to verify before the cleansing of the leper? vs.1-3
2. What 5 things would the priest give orders to bring for the one who had been healed of leprosy and needed to be cleansed? vs. 4 - Name 5 things
3. One of the 2 clean birds was to be slain. What were the procedures to be followed? vs. 5
4.  Do you see the picture of salvation in this? The first bird that is slain is a picture of our Lord who confined Himself to an earthenware vessel (a human form) to die on the cross for us. He told us He was the living water and if we believe in Him we not thirst any longer. Look up the following verses to see how this all points to the Lord Jesus.
  • Philippians 2:6-8
  • 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
5. The live bird was taken with the cedar wood and the scarlet string and the hyssop and dipped in the blood of the bird that was slain over the running water. (vs.6) ... The priest then sprinkled the one to be cleansed 7 times and pronounced him clean.  What did he do with the bird at that time that had been dipped in the blood of the other bird? vs. 7
6.  I can see that this is a picture of our cleansing and freedom that come from being identified with the Lord, being dipped in His blood, identifying with His cross, and being set free from sin and death!  See if these verses bring that truth home to you as well.
  • Romans 6:1-7
  • Romans 8:1-2
  • John 8:36
  • Galatians 3:26,27
7.  Back to Leviticus 14.  What did the one who had been healed and now was to be cleansed to do after the bird was set free on his behalf? vs. 8a - Name 4 things
8.  Although the person could enter back into the camp of the sons of Israel, where was he not to enter for 7 days?  vs. 8
9.  What day was he suppose to shave, wash his clothes, and bathe his body to be cleaned? vs. 9
10.  On the 8th day, he was to take:  1) 2 male lambs without defect ... 2) a yearling ewe lamb without defect ... 3) 3/10ths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, .... and 4) one log of oil (approx. 1 pint)...(vs.10) .......... The priest who prounounced him "clean" would present him before the Lord at the doorway of meeting (vs.11) ..........What was offered to the Lord first and what kind of offerings did these represent? vs. 12
11.  What would be killed next and what offering was it? vs. 13
12.  Where would the priest apply the blood of this offering to the person being cleansed? vs. 14 - Name 3 places on the body
13.  Do you remember when these same places were applied to the priests when they entered the priesthood?  Can you see that this could be symbolic of our entering the priesthood as believers in the Lord after we have been adopted into the family of God?  We talked about the ear being one that "listens to God's counsel" ... the thumb being on the hand so that we would "serve in His kingdom's work" ... and the toe being on the foot, that we would "walk in His Spirit".  Let's look at some verses to show we enter the priesthood and we are called to listen, serve, and walk in Him.
  • 1 Peter 2:9
  • Romans 10:17
  • Colossians 3:23,24
  • Colossians 1:10
  • 1 Peter 4:10,11
14.  Back to Leviticus 14.  Next, the priest applied the oil that the one to be cleansed had brought with them.  He poured some of the oil into his left palm.  After that, what did he do with his right-hand finger? vs. 15,16 -
15.  Where did the priest apply the oil as he had applied the blood of the guilt offering? vs. 17 - Name 3 places
Note:  It is easy to see this symbolism as not serving the Lord in the flesh, but in the spirit.  We will look at some verses on this.
16.  What did the priest do with the rest of the oil in his left palm? vs. 18
17.  We know from so many Scriptures that oil represents the anointing we receive from the Lord in the filling of His Spirit within us and upon us as His children.  Amen.  Look up the following verses and comment:
  • John 14:16-17
  • John 14:26
  • John 15:26
  • John 16:7
  • 1 John 2:20
  • 1 John 2:27
  • James 5:14-16
18.  Back to Leviticus 14.  What are the last 2 offerings for atonement that the priest will offer before he pronounces this healed leper "cleansed" and "restored" to the fellowship? vs.19-20
Note:  Remember Jesus is our Sin offering and the way we offer a burnt offering is by offering our bodies a living sacrifice, wholly and acceptable to Him as our spiritual worship (Romans 12:1,2)
19.  What if a person is too poor to bring all of this?  What does this person need to bring if they are healed of leprosy and need to be cleansed and atoned for? vs. 22 - Name 4 things
20.  How does this differ from the requirements listed in verse 12, which is listed on question number 10 above?
21.  They came into the camp for 7 days in the same way and then the cleansing began on the 8th day also.  Everything is the same in that there is a guilt offering of blood applied to the ear, thumb, and toe and the oil is applied to them in the same way. They are also required to offer a sin offering and a burnt offering with the 2 turtledoves or pigeons they have brought.(verses 23-32).   It's so wonderful that God does not leave anyone out of the offer of salvation.  The invitation to be healed and set free goes out to all of mankind.  Comment on the following verses.
  • John 1:12,13
  • 1 Corinthians 12:13
  • John 3:16-18
  • Galatians 3:28,29
  • Romans 10:8-13
Note:  Have you accepted the Lord's cleansing blood and His precious Spirit into your life?  If not, read the verses above again and confess your sins to Him, asking Him to save you, to change you, to cleanse you, and you will be set free just like the bird that was dipped in the blood of the one that was slain.  Please comment if you want to share with us about this !!
Next Note:  Back to Leviticus 14 - God covers the law of cleansing a house that has the mark of leprosy on it when they enter the land of Canaan to possess it. (vs.33-53).  Let's review some of the steps they will need to go through.
22.  Who will go ahead and inspect the homes and put a mark on them for the priests to cleanse when they reach the Promised Land of Canaan? vs.33,34 -
23.  When the person who owns the home saw the "mark of leprosy", they were to go to the priest and tell him; ... confession ...  (vs.35).  The priest would then "empty" the house and look for the mark.  This was so that not everything in the house would become unclean. (vs.36) ... (church discipline) ...  If the mark on the wall was deeper than the surface, the house would be quarantined for 7 days. (vs.37,38)  ... The priest returned to the house to inspect it on the 7th day. (vs.39) ... The priest would order that they tear out the stones with the mark on it and take them to an unclean place outside the city. (vs. 40) .... What would be done to the house next? vs. 41 -
24.  Where would they dump the "old" plaster? vs. 42 -
25.  After this, they would put new stones in the place of the old ones, and take new plaster and put in place of the old plaster.  Note:  This reminds of us Jesus telling the Pharisees clean up the inside and stop being hypocrits.  It also reminds us of Him telling His disciples that new wine could not be put into old wineskins.  Comment on the following verses.
  • Matthew 23:27,28 -
  • Matthew 9:17 -
26.  Back to Leviticus 14.  What would have to happen to the house if the mark "broke out" again after the new stones had been put in the place of the old and the old plaster had been replaced with new? vs. 43-45
27.  Obviously, the stones that replaced the old ones were good stones.  Just like the seed that is sown, the seed is "good" for it is the Gospel; it is Jesus.  It all depends on the soils that receive the seed.  Sometimes, it does not fall on good soil.  What did Jesus say about 4 types of soil that the seed fell upon in the following parable?
  • Luke 8:11-15
28.  Back to Leviticus 14.  What would happen to anyone who came into the house while it was being quarantined? vs. 46
29.  If a person laid down or ate in the house, while it was being quarantined, what were they to do? vs. 47
30.  What would happen if the priest came to make an inspection after the stones were new and the plaster was new and there was not any spreading of the mark? vs. 45
31.  The seed was obviously sown into good soil !  Comment on the following verses.
  • Matthew 13:8
  • Luke 8:15
32.  Back to Leviticus 14.  Once the house was verified to be rid of the mark of leprosy, they were to cleanse the house.  They would use 2 live birds to do this.  Like the treatment for the individual who was to be cleansed, one of the birds was to be slaughtered in an earthenware vessel over running water (vs.49,50) ... What was he to do with the wood, hyssop, scarlet string, and the live bird? vs. 51,52
33.  How many times was he to sprinkle the house? vs. 51
34.  What was he to do with the live bird after this? vs. 53
35.  What paralels can be drawn between the house with the mark of leprosy and a church with the mark of unrepentant sin there? ... First of all, we are called a house of living stones.  Comment on the following verse.
  • 1 Peter 2:4,5
36.  There are times that church discipline is in order, so that the whole house can be cleaned and restored again.  Read the following passages and make comments on them.  When finished, write out how this could be compared to cleaning a house of the mark of leprosy.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:33 -
  • 1 Corinthians 5:1-5 -
  • 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 -
  • 1 Corinthians 6:1-3 -
  • 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 -
  • 1 Corinthians 11:26-32 -
  • 2 Corinthians 2:5-8 -
  • 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 -
  • 2 Corinthians 7:1 -
  • 2 Timothy 2:23-26 -
  • 1 Timothy 5:19-22 -
  • Hebrews 12:7-13 -
  • Galatians 6:1-5 -
  • Gal. 6:7-8 -
37.  Back to Leviticus 14.  ... This is the law for any mark of leprosy - a scale, a garment, or a house - for a swelling, a scab, or a bright spot. (vs.54-56) .. What is the purpose of all this instruction given in the two chapters? vs. 57

Application - Do You Need Cleansing?
38.  The purpose of all of this is to know whether a person is clean or unclean. (vs.57) Yes, this refers to leprosy, but we have seen in these last 2 chapters, it can easily be seen as a life without Christ or one that has been disjointed from the body and needs to be cleansed and put back in the place of fellowship again ..... Do you know if you are clean or unclean?  If you are a believer, you are clean, but you need to wash your hands and feet (remember where the blood and oil were applied?) ... Read what Jesus said to Peter about this:
  • John 13:10,11 -
39.  If you have never been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and then anointed by His Holy Spirit to serve Him, go back to number 21 in the lesson and read the ways that He will set you free through faith, confession, and repentance.  Once you are a born again believer, you are clean, but when you get dirty hands or feet (because no one is without acts of sin) - come to the water of cleansing.  Read the verse below and comment:
  • 1 John 1:9 -
Thankful leper
Lesson Application:
40. If you don't have time to read these stories of lepers that were cleansed, please return and read them soon.  It will help you to see the steps that were taken, how it is related to sin, and how to be restored into fellowship with the Lord and one another.  When you can, comment on the following stories and what you learn from them:
  • Naaman - 2 Kings Chapter 5 - entire chapter
  • King Uzziah - 2 Chronicles 26 - entire chapter
  • Miriam - Numbers Chapter 12 - entire chapter
41.  We have an account in the New Testament of when 10 lepers cried out to Jesus to have mercy upon them.  He told them to go to the priests and show themselves.  You have learned from these chapters what all that would entail.  They realized they were actually cleansed (healed) as they began to go to the priests.  Out of 10, only one of them returned to Jesus to thank Him for His cleansing.  What about you?  Read the account below and then spend time thanking Jesus for dying for us, for identifying with us, for our identification with Him, for His Holy Spirit's help and anointing, and for all that He does in us and through us to serve the body of Christ.  Praise God !!
  • Luke 17:11-19
42.  Summarize the lesson and post a prayer if you would like.
