Paul is giving thanks to God and Jesus for the Colossians. He has heard of their faith and the love for all the saints. He knows they have their hope laid up in heaven and have had it since they first heard the word of truth in the gospel. (vs.3-6) What is it (the gospel) constantly bearing and increasing in? vs. 6
It is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it;

Through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions.
