Observation Questions For 1 Corinthians Chapter 8 1.  In regard to things sacrificed to idols, Paul knows that they know right from wrong in regard to it.  What does Paul say about just having knowledge? vs. 1 2.  What does Paul say that love will do? vs. 1 3.  How does this apply to the things taught in this chapter?  Think about knowledge verses love as you read and then comment on what you think it means in application. 4.  Paul is speaking to them concerning things eaten that have been first sacrificed to idols.  He said there is really "no such thing" as an idol or a god other than the true and living God.  What does he tell us about the one God and the Lord Jesus Christ? vs.4-6 5.  Not everyone has the knowledge that some of us do in these facts.  They may believe that there really is an idol and that the food has been sacrificed to the idol and that they should not eat the meat for that reason. If a person is concerned about this and chooses not to eat the meat, what attitude should you have toward them? vs.7-13 6.  When we treat another's conscience lightly and encourage them in the freedom we have come to know, we make them stumble in something they believe in their hearts to be wrong.  If we sin against them in this way, who are we really sinning against? vs. 12 7.  As believers, what freedoms can we give up so that another weaker believer will not stumble? vs. 13  - For Paul in his day with their customs, it was eating meat that might have been sacrificed to an idol - What are some things you think might apply to us in this way today? 8.  How will this lesson effect your life?  What is your prayer today?
