REVELATION 6     Note: In chapter 5, John was weeping greatly that no one was found worthy to open the book and break the seven seals. The elder told John to stop weeping because the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Lamb who had been slain from the foundation of the world, had overcome and was worthy to break the seven seals. We saw the worship of heaven and those on earth and even under the earth as they worshiped Jesus, the One worthy to open the seals. In this chapter, we will see six seals broken. What did John hear when he saw the Lamb broke the 1st of the 7 seals? vs.1 When he looked, what color horse did he see? vs.2 What was the rider holding? vs. 2 What was given to the him? vs. 2 What was he doing? vs. 2 Note: Most scholars believe that the white horse represents the coming world ruler who will conquer the world with peaceful means and then break the peace treaty with Israel and declare war which is where the red horse comes in. This rider would be the coming Antichrist or the Beast revealed later in Revelation. What did John hear when he saw the Lamb break the 2nd of the 7 seals? vs. 3 What is the color of the next horse John sees? vs. 4 What was granted the rider of this horse? vs. 4 - Name 3 things Note: Most believe that the red horse and the sword indicate the world ruler breaking the peace treaty and declaring war. He will take peace from the earth, but notice that it was granted to him, for the evil one can do nothing without the express permission of God Almighty. What did John hear when he saw the Lamb break the 3rd of the 7 seals? vs. 5 What is the color of the next horse he sees? vs. 5 What was the rider of the horse carrying in his hand? vs. 5 John heard a voice in the center of the 4 living creatures. What was the voice saying about the scales in the hand of the rider on the black horse? vs. 6 Look up the equivalent amount today for a denarius in a Bible dictionary. What did the voice tell the rider not to damage? vs. 6 - Name 2 things Note: Due to the wars that will come by the red horse, there will be famine and rationing of the world's food supplies, which is shown by the scales and the food being weighed. What is described is just enough money for one person to live for one day. Food will be very expensive because many perishable crops would have been destroyed by war. Food rationing will give more government control over the people and all democratic governments will be a thing of the past; one world ruler. What did John hear when he saw the Lamb break the 4th of the 7 seals? vs. 7 What color was the 4th horse that John saw? vs. 8 What was the name of the one who sat on this horse? vs. 8 What was the name of the one who followed him? vs. 8 They were given authority over 1/4th of the earth. What 4 judgments would be used to kill the people at that time? vs. 8 - Name 4 Note: John sees a sickly pale green horse. (The Greek word clwrov (chloros) is used and it is more likely to be translated as green than pale). The rider on him brought death and Hades follows with him. With war and famine around the world, it is a natural progression that disease (pestilence) would follow. Worldwide diseases would bring a panic and a need to bring the one world government to the aid of all, which could be the gateway to the world dictator and his one world religion to worship him and his way as well. (mark of the beast as we will learn about later in Revelation). What did John see when the Lamb broke the 5th of the 7 seals? vs. 9 Why had these people been killed? vs. 9 - Name 2 reasons What are these people crying out? vs. 10 What was given to each one of them? vs. 11 Why were they told to rest a little while longer? vs. 11 Note: The worship of a one world ruler would also demand allegiance from every person. There will be those who come to know the Lord Jesus Christ during the tribulation period, but they will suffer death for it. The martyrs from ages past are already under the altar in heaven asking how long it will be until their blood is avenged for. It will be awhile longer because there are more to come as the 5th seal is broken, and persecution on Christianity will be at it's peak. This little season lasts only a few years until the end of the great tribulation for the Church on earth. What did John see when the Lamb broke the 6th seal of the 7 seals? vs. 12 What happened to the sun at that time? vs. 12 What did the moon look like at that time? vs. 12 What happened to the stars of the sky? vs. 13 What happened to the sky? vs. 14 What happened to every mountain and every island? vs. 14 - What classes of mankind tried to hide from the wrath of God and the Lamb? vs.15-17 - Name 7 catagories Where did they try to hide themselves? vs. 15 What did they want the rocks to do? vs. 16 They knew the "great day of their wrath had come." What was their question? vs. 17 The Holiness we saw in chapters 4 and 5 as God and the Lamb were worshiped cannot allow the sinfulness of mankind without judgment. Each person has the opportunity to accept God's forgiveness and escape His coming wrath so each man will be without excuse. What comfort it brings to know Him and to know that we have eternal life.
