Numbers Worksheet ~ Numbers Chapter 35

Review & Intro:  In Chapter 34, we saw the borders of the land that was to be given to the sons of Israel by the Lord.  Once they crossed over the Jordan, they were to distribute the land by the size of the tribes and then by lot.  In Chapter 35 , they are told that they were to appoint 6 cities that were to be known as "cities of refuge". These cities were to be made available to someone who killed another person by accident. They could flee to any of these 6 cities and find safety and help.

Application:

 35.  Because of man's original sin in the garden of Eden, the death sentence was passed on to all of us because death entered the world by sin.  Comment on the following verses:

Note:  We need a refuge! We need a place where we can run to and find safety for our souls!  I praise God that there is a place where the sinner can flee and find help and hope. A place where we can find a new life and a new start. A place where the avenger of blood cannot touch us, ever! That place is a man. That man's name is Jesus Christ. Notice what these cities of refuge teach us about Him.

37  Each of the 6 Names of the Cities of Refuge tell us by the meaning of their name how they portray the Lord Jesus Christ for us.  Comment on the following names by reading each verse and commenting what you learn from it.

    • John 10:27-30 -

    41.  He has cleared the way! The only things that can keep you from getting to Him are those things you lay in your own path. Things like unbelief and pride.  What is the only path that will get you to your refuge (safety) in the Lord?

    • John 14:6 -
    • Acts 4:12 -

Note:  Without Jesus, you have no refuge from the wrath of God because the righteousness of God cannot dwell with the unrighteousness of man.  We have seen that over and over again in the offerings for atonement under the law of Moses.  Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness... Jesus had shed His blood for us and made a way for us to come to the Lord through faith in Him! Come to your refuge if you haven't yet.  Run to His Name and find all that You need.  Amen.

    42.  Summarize the lesson and post a prayer if you would like.
