Note about the Jewish Calendar:
The inauguration of the religious calendar in Israel set up by God Himself was to remind them each new year that their life as the the people of God was grounded in God's redemptive act in the exodus of their bondage from Egypt.
The Canaanite name for this month was Abib.  Later the Babylonian name Nisan was used.  So this feast is celebrated each year on the 14th day of Nisan on the Jewish calendar.  In comparison to our calendars, this is between the months of March and April, the season of Spring.
The feasts they celebrate at this time are:
1) Passover; 2) Unleavened Bread; and 3) Firstfruits.
Each of these is a foreshadow of Jesus Christ and we see that fulfilled in the New Testament and it is the reason that Christians celebrate Easter about this same time.
We will look at the parallels on our application today and several times throughout the Old Testament study together.
