Deuteronomy Worksheet - Chapter 27

Review & Intro: Chapter 26 was a chapter of giving thanksgiving and worship to the Lord for the blessing of the produce of the land they would receive from the land of Promise they were about to enter. In Chapter 27, we see that there will be blessings and cursings announced when they enter the Promised Land on the twin peaked mountains of Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal. Surely they will know right and wrong; the way to be blessed and also the way to be cursed.

Application:
15. When the law was written on stones rather than written on the heart by the Holy Spirit we have today, they had to make intellectual decisions and use the elements of fear to keep them in line. Today, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, have the law of God written on our hearts. We have The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit actually living inside of us as we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Rather than fear of punishment and a curse, we have the motivation of love without fear. The Lord turned our "have to" into "want to". Freedom in Jesus brings rest and His commandments are not a burden to us. Let's celebrate the verses below and the fact that Jesus took the curse upon Himself so that we can live in the blessings of Abraham, the father of faith. Amen. Enjoy this.
  • Matthew 11:29 -
  • John 14:16,17 -
  • Romans 8:1-4 -
  • Romans 8:14-17 -
  • Romans 8:26-39 -
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19 -
  • 2 Corinthians 3:3 -
  • Colossians 2:9-12 -
  • Galatians 3:10-14 -
  • 1 John 4:8 -
  • 1 John 5:3 -
16. Galatians 3:10-14 is worth looking at again. Answer these questions from those verses: ... What will happen to a person who does not keep all things written in the law? vs. 10 ... Can anyone be justified by keeping the law? vs. 11 ..... How are we justified before God? vs. 11 ..... If a person chooses to practice the law, what must they live by? vs. 12 ... Who redeemed us (bought us back) from the curse of the law? vs. 13 ..... How did He do this? vs. 13 ... Rather than being under the Mosaic covenant of the Law, whose blessings do we come under that was called the father of faith? vs. 14 ... What do we receive as believers in Christ "by faith"? vs. 14
17. Summarize this lesson and post a prayer if you would like.
