Deuteronomy Worksheet - Chapter 33

Review & Intro: In Chapter 32, we saw the words to the song of Moses, that the Israelites were to learn and be able to recall once they were banished to other lands after they did not keep the commandments of the Lord, but would turn to other gods and serve them. God promised them restoration after their hearts turned back to Him. In Chapter 33, right before Moses dies, he gives blessings to the tribes of Israel, as Israel (Jacob) did before his death in Genesis chapter 49. It is interesting to compare them if you have time to. He reminds Israel before his death that there is no nation on earth like them and that they have the everlasting arms of the Lord to hold them up.

Application:
28. It's amazing that the 12 tribes are still receiving blessings from Moses as they had been pronounced on them years ago through their father Jacob (Israel) as seen in Genesis Chapter 49. The Lord has been faithful to bring them to the Promised Land and to have His servant Moses pronounce these blessings upon them and their tribes before they enter the promised land. How important it is that we pronounce blessings upon our children and remind them of God's promises. Do you have a record to share with your family or a ritual that you do to rehearse the goodness of God in their lives? Share if you have anything you do or have heard of that can be done in passing on verbal blessings to our children of the promises of God.
29. God's glory (the light of His presence) had been with Israel all the years of their wanderings in the desert. He led them in the cloud by day and the fire by night. They saw His glory from a distance. The apostles of the New Testament witnessed His glory and they shared that glory with us through their testimony. We will do well to pay attention to the light that was given through the prophets and the apostles to come out of darkness and be in His light and to shine that light upon others. Let's think about His light and the light that we have in this dark world. How will you shine upon others in His love this week?
  • Matthew 5:14 -16 -
