Application:
14. It's wonderful to see after the Lord gave such awesome tasks to the Levites who would camp around the tabernacle and do the taking down, carrying, and the setting up of the tabernacle ... He moves upon the hearts of the leaders to offer oxen and carts to be used for the work of the sanctuary. How wonderful that the sons of Gershon would have 2 covered carts to move the curtains from place to place and the sons of Merari would have 4 covered carts to move the structural pillars, boards, sockets, etc. from place to place. When we are seeking the Lord and His service, He will provide everything we need for the work. Comment on the following verses:
- 2 Corinthians 9:8 -
- Philippians 4:18,19 -
15. Not only did the 12 leaders bring the offerings of oxen and carts for the Lord's work, but they also dedicated themselves to the work of leadership through a "dedication service" that lasted 12 days. Each leader brought the offering of dedication, one a day, day after day, for 12 days. This was a public action that the people of Israel could look upon and be assured that they were dedicated to the service they were elected to serve in. Why is it so important that leaders dedicate themselves wholly to the Lord in this way? Comment on the following verses:
- Acts 20:28 -
- 1 Peter 5:1-4 -
- 1 Thessalonians 5:12,13 -
- 2 Timothy 4:1-5 -
- 1 Corinthians 15:58 -
16. We have the leaders "dedicated" to leadership, and the Levites set apart to do the work of the tabernacle, and yet, the most important thing is that Moses is meeting with God and hearing Him speak so that they know His desire and guidance for every task needed in worship and in all matters of life. Moses would meet with God in the tent of meeting at the Mercy Seat that was on the ark of testimony where the commandments were inside. The Mercy Seat is the picture of Jesus, our Merciful and High Priest. We can enter into the holy place as Moses did and hear from the Lord through His Word and through time in prayer. Comment on the following verse about how we approach God and speak with Him today.
- Hebrews 4:14-16 -
17. Summarize the lesson and post a prayer if you would like.
