Observation Questions For
Galatians Chapter 5
Paul continued to instruct the Galatians, saying,
"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." (Galatians 5:1)
1.  What form of slavery were the false teachers trying to get the Galatians to abide by? vs. 1-4
2.  If they decided to be circumcised, they would have to fulfill all the law of God.(vs.3)... If they wanted to be justified by the law, what would happen to the grace they had been introduced to by Paul in the gospel? vs. 4
3.  What did Paul say he was waiting for through the Spirit? vs. 5
4.  How do we live out our faith through Christ Jesus? vs. 6
5.  Paul says the Galatians were running well and obeying the truth, but now they have been hindered. Did the persuasion to be circumcised or try to be justified by the law come from God who had called them? vs. 7-8
"A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough".

7.  Paul continues to encourage the Galatians to walk in the freedom that they had been called in. How does he instruct them to use their freedom in Christ? vs. 13

If we are led by the Spirit, we are not under the Law (vs.18).
11. Paul lists for us the evidence to show when we are walking in the flesh. Make a list of these 15 items mentioned and look up in a concordance any that you are unsure of their meaning.

Paul warned them over again that those who practice (continually) such things (as a lifestyle) would not inherit the kingdom of God. This is Paul's way to explain a believer's lifestyle in comparison with an unbeliever's lifestyle.
Read 1 John 3:4-12.
12. How do we know if a person is of God and how do we know if a person is of the devil?
Christians who walk by the Spirit as a lifestyle can sometimes have a sin that easily entangles them from running the race with all their might.
Read Hebrews 12:1-3.
13. How are we encouraged to get untangled from a habitual sin?
14. According to 1 John 1:10, how do we get cleansed from all unrighteousness when we realize we have sinned?
15.  Back to Galatians 5.  What is evident in our lifestyle when we are walking in the Spirit? What are the 9 things that are evident of the fruit of His Spirit? List them.

When we are walking in His Spirit, there is no law, but perfect freedom. (vs.23)
