Numbers Worksheet ~ Numbers, Chapter 1

Review & Intro:  In Leviticus, we studied the priestly practices, the laws of holiness, and various commandments given by God to the Israelites through Moses. In 27 chapters, very little time passed. We actually saw only two narratives of action: the day Nadab and Abihu offered the strange fire, and the time that a man got in a fight and blasphemed...... But in the book of Numbers, we're going to cover the entire wilderness wandering. Many of the best Bible narratives and subjects of study are found in the book of Numbers: Nazarite Vows; Sending Spies into Canaan; Korah's Rebellion; the Red Heifer; the Brazen Serpent; the Prophet Balaam; Cities of Refuge; and so much more!

warfare

Application:

14.  This chapter is here because the children of Israel are being prepared for war. The Israelites weren’t going on holiday to Canaan. They were going to war, and therefore the military roll needed to be taken and they needed to be mustered and organized in the camp, and that’s exactly what happens in Numbers 1.  That is a reminder to us that the Christian life is war because we will continually fight with the world, and the flesh, and the devil until we finally reach our promised land in heaven.  And this, too, we learn from Numbers 1. Take time to comment on the verses below and state why you too must prepare for war and stay alert in it!

  • What is the Word of God referred to? ..... Hebrews 4:12-13 -
  • What is our warfare against? ..... Romans 12:21 -

  • What has Jesus come to give us? ..... John 10:10b -

  • What do we use our spiritual weapons for? ... 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 -
  • What is our breastplate? ..... 1 Thessalonians 5:5-8 -
  • What is our helmet? ..... 1 Thessalonians 5:5-8 -
  • Name some ways that Paul fought the "good fight" and how we can do the same.  ..... 2 Corinthians 6:3-7 -

  • What does Satan do concerning us - all day and night - at God's throne? ... Revelation 12:10,11 -
  • How do believers overcome the enemy? ... Revelation 12:10,11 - Name 3 things -
  • As we go forth to build the Lord's church, what promise do we have in regard to the enemy who will try to stop us? ... Matthew 16:18 -
  • God's love will cause us to be more than a conqueror over all the things listed in Romans 8:37-39 - List them here - Name 10 things that cannot separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. -
  • What kind of fight had the apostle Paul fought by the end of his life?  What had he kept; held on to? .... 2 Timothy 4:6-7 -

15.  Everyday we fight an enemy as we walk through this life.  Has this lesson made you more aware of that?  Are you preparing to be a good soldier for the Lord?  If not, will you start asap? ..... What battles are you fighting right now for His Name's sake?  Will you remember to get dressed in the armor of God each day?  Will you remember it is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of wickedness in high places?

16.  Summarize this lesson and post a prayer if you would like.
