Numbers Chapter 9 - Observation Questions

1.  What did the Lord speak to Moses about in the wilderness of Sinai in the 1st month of the 2nd year after they had come out of the land of Egypt? vs. 1,2

2.  What was the appointed time for it to be observed? vs. 2-5

3.  Read Exodus Chapter 12 and make notes on the original passover.  When was it?  .. Where was it? .. Why was it observed? .. How was it observed? .. What regulations were given? ..

4.  Some men were unclean because of their being near a dead person, most likely a close relative of theirs.  According to the law, they could not observe the Passover on that day, but they still wanted to make the offering before the Lord and observe the ordiance.  They brought their situation to Moses and Aaron.(vs.6,7)  How did Moses respond to their request? vs.8

5.  Moses got word from the Lord and brought it back to them.  What 2 reasons were given from the Lord to eat the Passover in the 2nd month rather than the 1st for these special reasons? vs. 9,10

6.  Although the 2nd month rather than the 1st month for these special situations, it would still be the 14th day at twilight they were to observe it, just one month later.  In the same way, how was it to be eaten? vs. 11

7.  They were not to leave any of it until morning, and what command was given concerning the bones of the passover lamb? vs. 12

8.  How does the unbroken bones give us a picture of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who was our Passover Lamb?  Comment on the verses below:

9. Back to Numbers 9.  The Lord also gave Moses a warning to give them.  If the man is 'clean' and 'not on a journey', he must observe the Passover on the regular day.  What would happen if a person neglected to observe the Lord's Passover? vs. 13

10.  Could an alien traveling with the sons of Israel also partake of the Passover? vs. 14

11.  How does this remind you of how the Gentiles are brought in through the cross?

12. On the heels of speaking about Passover, the Lord reminds Moses to speak about the cloud that covered the tabernacle.  What was it like in the evening? vs. 15

13.  What did they continually see all the day long? vs. 16

14.  Think of the comfort that the cloud would bring from the heat in the day and the warmth it would bring in the camp at night.  It would also give them light in the camp so that they would see rocks or anything that might harm them as they walk about.  Like the Holy Spirit, there was comfort in the tangible presence of the Lord with them.  Comment on the following verses and see how the Spirit provides for us continually in this same way:

 15.  Back to Numbers 9.  How did the sons of Israel know when to set out from camp to continue on their journey to the Promised Land?  How would they know when to stop and camp for awhile? vs. 17

16.  No matter how long the cloud lingered, whether for a few days or even a year, they would not move until the cloud led them on.(vs.19-23).  How important is it that we "wait on the Lord" before we continue with decisions and things in our lives?  Comment on the following verses:
