Luke Chapter 6 - Assignment

1. Read the Chapter Straight Through from your own Bible at home or an online website.

2. Read through again in sections broken down for you below and answer the questions if you would like to for help in meditating on the message.

3. Conclude with summarizing the verse that means the most to you and your thoughts and/or prayers.

 

Luke 6:1-11 - Jesus is Lord of The Sabbath 

1.  What was the reason David ate consecrated bread and the reason the disciples of Jesus were eating grain they picked from a field on the Sabbath Day?

2.  What did Jesus do for a man in need on another Sabbath day?  What did Jesus teach was lawful to do on a Sabbath day?

3.  Jesus said that He was the Lord of the Sabbath.  What do you think that means?

4.  How did the religious leaders feel toward these teachings and actions of Jesus?

 

Luke 6:12-19 - Jesus Chooses His Twelve Disciples/Apostles

1.  What did Jesus do the night before He chose His 12 Disciples? vs. 12 -

2.  Jesus called all His disciples to Him on the following day and chose 12 of them whom He called apostles.  What were their names?

3.  Jesus and His 12 came down from the mountain and there was a great multitude who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases.  Why were they all trying to 'touch' Him?

 

Luke 6:20-45 - The Beatitudes

1. Name the 4 things Jesus said were a blessing for His followers from vs.20-23 -

2. What were the 3 woes that Jesus gave for those listening? vs.24-26

3.  For those who would really hear His message, what did He want them to learn? (fill in the blanks)

  • "Love your ______;

  • Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him ___________;

If you love only those who love you, what credit is that?  If you do good to only those who do good to you, what credit is that?  If you lend to those you expect to repay you, what credit is that?  Even sinners lend to sinners for something in return.

  • and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High;

Jesus said blind cannot lead blind or they both end up in a ditch.  He said a disciple is never above his teacher, but it is acceptable to be fully trained and like his teacher.

Luke 6:46-49 - Builders & Foundations

1. What does it mean to call Him Lord?  What should it mean?

2.  What is the man like who hears the Words of the Lord and acts upon them?

3.  What is the man like who hears the Words of the Lord and does not act upon them?

4.  Will you act upon what you have heard in your spirit from the Lord today?
