  • vs. 2 -

Jacob sent messengers before him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.  He has not seen him in over 20 years, but when he left it was because Esau had planned to murder him over him being deceitful to get his blessing from Issac, their father.

What would he give him in hopes of appeasing his anger toward him?

  • vs. 14-15 -

Jacob had the servants go before him with these things so that they could give them to Esau before he met with him.  He instructed them to tell Esau that he, his brother Jacob, was coming up behind them.

  • Why was the thorn in the flesh given to Paul? vs. 7 -

  • How many times did Paul ask the Lord in prayer to remove it from him? vs. 8 -

Jacob (Israel) would forever be reminded that although he held on to God in prayer until he received a blessing ... God left His mark on Jacob to show Him that He was still to always be dependent on Him and to remember where His blessings and protection came from.  Every limp of his walk would remind Jacob of that meeting with God just as Paul's thorn in his flesh would remind him.

What weakness has God left in your body that keeps you humble and dependent on God's grace daily?

  • Can you praise Him for it today and gladly accept the things that Paul did?
