Genesis Chapter 36

Descendants of Esau

1.  What nation was Esau the father of? vs. 1 -

2.  Where did the Edomites become a nation and live? vs. 1 -

The descendants of Esau are listed in this chapter.  Rather than list them all, let's review what we know about his choice of wives and how it was in defiance to God's commands for his parents, Rebekah & Isaac.

Esau bore a grudge against Jacob from the time the birthright and blessings of the firstborn were given to Jacob rather than to him.  He was the one that despised his birthright and sold himself for his own appetites, but he was angry at Jacob just the same.

Esau was in rebellion in his marriages.  He also moved away from the God-given territory and built his own nation, the Edomites.
