Genesis - Worksheet Chapter 10

Genesis, Chapter 10

Descendants of Noah

This chapter records the descendants of Noah through his three sons:

    1. Shem,
    2. Ham, and
    3. Japeth.

The table of Nations formed from these 3 was 70 nations or groups of people.

    1. Shem formed 26...
    2. Ham formed 30...and
    3. Japeth formed 14.

The map given on the page will give you the perception to see where these groups of people settled in the days after the flood.

These 70 nations were on 3 continents as we know them today - Eurpope, Asia, and Africa.  It is interesting to take note of what happened in the days of Peleg from Shem's descendants.

1.  What did Peleg mean and what happened in his day?  vs. 25

So this could have well been which this one land mass took on 7 continents are at least broke apart to some degree into continents that end up being 7 in our day.

Haven't you ever looked upon our world map and seen how it looks like a jigsaw puzzle piece that could all be placed back together in one land mass?

The languages would already be created before the division of the land when you look at the time lines of when Peleg was born and when the languages are given by God.

The way it seems to me is that the languages are confused (we learn about this tomorrow in Chapter 11) and then the lands are divided.  This could have well happened by an earth quake at that time, at the time of Peleg, but after the languages were confused.

2.  Who was born to Cush and what is told about him?  vs. 8-9 -

3.  What were the first centers of his kingdom? vs. 10

Where is Babel?

Babel became Babylon and we will read about the tower built in Babel in Chapter 11.

4.  Where else did this leader build in? vs. 11-12 -

Babylon is a central theme to all of the Bible and is still spoken of in Revelation, so take note of the beginning as we read.

5. Read about Nimrod in the link below and bring back any insights to this page.

6. What do you learn about the entire human race from

  • Acts 17:24-28 -

If we are made from one bloodline, then we go back to one of the sons of Noah and Noah was from the bloodline of Adam, so we are all connected.

7. Read this article and bring your comments over for all to learn from your insights:

We will look more into the names and the applications on the genealogies given in Chapter 11 tomorrow.
