The Flood
1. Why was Noah and his family saved from God's judgment on the earth? vs. 1
2. What do we learn about Noah's righteousness in the Scriptures?
- Genesis 6:8-9 -
- Hebrews 11:7 -
- 2 Peter 2:5 -
3. How many of each 'clean' animal was Noah to take into the ark with him? vs. 2
- How many of each 'unclean' animal was Noah to take into the ark with him? vs. 2
This shows us that although we do not have the recorded "Law of Moses" yet, God had shown men from the very beginning His law and order. Noah would know which animals were for sacrificing and which animals were clean for eating to sustain their lives as well (reason there were more than just 2 each of those).
3. What else did Noah bring into the ark by sevens, male and female? vs. 3
- Can you imagine all of these flying around?
- Were they caged? I wonder?
Some of these would be clean for eating but all would have at least 2, male and female to repopulate the earth when the flood was over.
Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
4. How old was Noah when the flood came on the earth? vs. 6
5. Who entered the ark with Noah? vs. 7, vs. 13-16 -
Read the article on Mrs. Noah at the link listed below if you like; it will be very enlightening to you about how the times would have been for her.

6. Who closed the door behind them after they were all inside? vs. 16
Noah's family and the animals all entered the ark. It must have taken seven days to get everyone in and settled. That was how long it was before the rain began to fall.
7. What happened in the 600th year of Noah's life...on the 17th day of the month.. ? vs. 11
8. How long did the rain fall upon the earth? vs. 12, 17
The water prevailed and increased greatly on the earth. The highest mountain tops were covered.
9. What happened to everything that God had created and given the breath of life? vs. 22 - 23
Of course the sea creatures could still stay alive in the waters. The fish would provide food for them as well as they repopulated the earth.
10. How long did the waters stay on the earth before it began to recede? vs. 24
Application:
Noah was the only one righteous before God. The others simply did not believe the judgment was coming. According to the Bible, they just continued on as things had always been.
What will it be like when the Lord returns the second time and the final judgment on sin brings the wrath of God on the unbelieving world?
- Matthew 24: 37-39 -
- What are we to do and why?
- Matthew 24: 42-44 -
Just as the unbelievers mocked Noah when he was building an ark to prepare for the judgment of God and he preached to them to repent and escape the judgment ... ...... we will experience the same kind of mockery today.
What are we told in advance to realize men will do and say in the last days before His coming?
- 2 Peter 3: 3- 4 -
What escapes their knowledge when they mock in this way?
- 2 Peter 3: 5-7 -
What are we to remember when it seems that it has been a long time since He promised? What is His purpose for taking His time?
- 2 Peter 3: 8-9 -
