Question About Fasting

7. Read Matthew 9:14-17

The disciples of John (the baptist) asked Jesus why they fasted and the Pharisees fasted but His disciples did not fast.

Jesus said that while the bridegroom was with them, they would not fast, but when He would be taken away from them, they would fast.

Then He made the statements that no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an 'old' garment ... or new wine into 'old' wineskins.  What do you think he might have been giving an illustraton of considering what has just been talked about?

Miracles of Healing  - Jarius' Daughter; Woman with Hemorrhage; 2 Blind Men; Mute/demon-possessed man;All types of diseases

8. While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue official came and bowed down before Him telling Him that his daughter has just died but that he knew she would live if Jesus would come lay His hand on her.  Jesus went and followed him along with His disciples. (Matthew 9:18-19, 23-26)

We know from Mark and Luke that the official's name is Jarius.

9. Read the account in Luke 8:41-42; 49-56 to get more details on this miracle!  Write a summary about it and what you learn from it.

10. As Jesus was on His way to Jarius' house, a woman touched His garment and was healed.  What was the condition she was healed from? vs. 20 -21

What brought her miracle? vs. 22

11.  When Jesus left Jarius' home, 2 blind men followed Him and were crying out "Son of David, have mercy on us!" What did Jesus ask these men? vs. 28 -

What did they receive because of their faith to believe? vs. 29 -

Jesus told them not to tell anyone, but of course the news went out all over the land.  He was on a mission from His Father on His Father's time table.  It was not the time that He be made known at that time.

12.  As they were going out; a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him.  What was the mute man able to do after the demon was cast out? vs. 33 -

How did the people react to this miracle? vs. 33 -

13. How did the Pharisees, the Jewish religious leaders, react to the miracles? vs. 34 -

Can you imagine the one who created the angelic beings being accused of having his power from the ruler of the demons?  How will this encourage you the next time someone thinks you are of the devil?

Jesus went through all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, healing every kind of disease & sickness.

14. What did Jesus feel for the people when He saw them and why? vs. 36 -

15.  What did Jesus tell His disciples at that point? vs. 37-

16.  What were they to do about it and what are we to do about the great harvest of souls out there? vs. 38 -

Who do you know today that needs workers of the gospel to come to their lives and share with them?  Will you take time to pray to the Lord of the Harvest for them today?
