Genesis Worksheet - Chapter 24

Genesis Chapter 24

 

1.  Abraham was very old now and God had blessed him in every way.  What was his concern for his son Isaac now that he was of age to marry? vs. 2-4 -

2.  What did Abraham ask his servant to promise him? (1) vs. 4 -      (2) vs. 5-9

3.  Who did Abraham say would go before his servant? vs. 7 -

4.  Where did Abraham's servant go and what did he take with him? vs. 10 -

5.  Abraham's servant prayed to the Lord that he would have success and lovingkindness would be shown to his master Abraham.  What did he specifically ask the Lord to do for him so that he would know His answer? vs. 11-14 -

6.  Before he had finished speaking out his prayer, the prayer was being answered!  When the servant asked for some water, she gave to him and then offered some to his camels.  Who was this girl and what was she like? vs. 15 - 16 -

7.  When the camels had finished drinking, the servant asked her whose daughter she was and if there was room for them to lodge in her father's house.  (remember the angel is with him as well)..

She told him who she was and that there was plenty of room at her home.  What did the servant do when he heard this? vs. 26 -

8.  What did the servant thank God for? vs. 27 -

9. Rebekah ran and told her mother's household about these things.  Who went out to meet the man (Abraham's servant) at the spring? vs. 29 -

10.  What gifts had the servant already given Rebekah that her brother had noticed? vs. 22, vs. 30, vs. 47 -

11.  Rebekah's brother invited the men in for a meal that had been prepared.  The servant could not eat the meal until he laid out before them the entire story of how he was sent, who he came from, why he came, etc.  He told how he prayed and how everything went according to what he had prayed. 

What did Laban, her brother as well as Bethuel, her father, say in regard to these things? vs. 50 - 51 -

12.  What did Abraham's servant do when he heard these things? vs. 52 -

13.  What was given to Rebekah, her brother, and her mother? vs. 53 -

They ate and spent the night there.  When they arose, the servant asked to be sent back to his master.  Rebekah's brother and mother wanted her to stay a little longer, maybe 10 days, but the servant said they needed to go right then.  They asked Rebekah what she wanted to do.

14.  What was Rebekah's willing answer? vs. 58

They sent her away with her nurse with Abraham's servant and his men.  They blessed Rebekah saying:  "May you, our sister, become thousands of ten thousands,and may your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them." (vs. 60)

Rebekah left with the servant for the trip back to Abraham. 

15.  Where was Isaac living at the time?  vs. 62

16.  What was Isaac doing when the servant arrived with Rebekah? vs. 63 -

Rebekah took her veil and covered herself when she knew this was the one she had been brought for. 

The servant told Isaac everything that had happened and why he had brought her to him this way.

17.  Where did Isaac take Rebekah? vs. 67 -

18.  How did Isaac feel toward Rebekah? vs. 68 -

19.  Look ahead to see what age Isaac was when this event occured.  How old was Isaac when he married Rebekah?  Genesis 25:20 -
