Abram was forced to leave Egypt after Pharaoh found out he had lied to him about his wife Sarai. He went right back to his starting place in the Negev.

Because Abram and Lot's possessions were so great, the land could not sustain them if they remained together.

There are times that we give up what is rightfully ours for the sake of others. Lot was glad to take advantage of Abram's offer to him. He chose "all the plain of Jordan that was well watered" and left the hills for Abram.

Lot departed "toward Sodom" (Genesis 13:12). Lot chose for himself what 'looked' best, but his choice was not the wisest. In the coming days of God's judgment upon the land of Sodom, it would only be the hand of God's divine intervention to help Lot escape disaster and destruction. (will read in Genesis 19:15-17). All his possessions will be destroyed in that day.
