The Flood Subsides
1. What are the first 3 words of vs. 1? ____ __________ ______
So far the flood narrative has been an account of judgment; from this point on it is a story of redemption.
2. How many days had it been since Noah had heard God's voice since God shut the door of the ark?
- Genesis 7:10
- plus Genesis 7:17
- plus Genesis 7:24 -
Now God is remembering Noah, but Noah still will not see the fulfillment of the promise until the water subsides completely from this point as well.
We will see these time segments here in Chapter 8 of Genesis.
3. When did the water decrease enough that the ark came to a resting point? vs. 4
4. What was the name of the mountains that the ark rested upon? vs. 4
5. How much longer was it from that time until the tops of the mountains became visible? vs. 5
6. At the end of 40 days from that point, what did Noah do? What was the result? vs. 6-7 -
7. What did Noah send out after this and what was the result? vs. 8-9 -
8. Noah waited another 7 days and sent the dove out of the ark again. This time, the dove came back to him toward evening.

At this point, God spoke to Noah.

This was an open confession before his family members of his faith and his gratitude for God's saving grace upon them. How often do we come to the altar and thank the Lord for the saving grace of the Lord Jesus in our lives?
14. When Noah sacrificed every kind of clean animal, what did God smell from the sacrifice and what did He say to Himself? vs. 21 - 22
As long as the earth remains - we will have seasons, days, and nights. We have the Lord's word on it!

What kind of sacrifice does God want from our lives today in gratitude for His saving us from our sins and the destruction that brings?
