Pharisees Test Jesus
The Pharisees and Sadducees tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven.

Peter's Confession of Christ
3. When Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He began asking His disciples: "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"

4. Jesus narrows it down to a personal decision. He said "Who do you say that I am?" What did Simon Peter answer Him? vs. 16 -

6. Jesus has built His church upon this very revelation of truth. What will not overpower His church? vs. 18 -
Jesus said He would give Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever he bound on earth would have already been bound in heaven; whatever he loosed on earth would have already been loosed in heaven.
Peter 'opened' the doors of the gospel to the church after Jesus ascended to heaven. This could very well be the keys to the kingdom that are spoken of.
