  1. Matthew Chapter 7

    Judging Others

    1. How can you determine how others will judge you ? vs. 1-2 - how we judge them is how we ourselves will be judged

    2. What should we do before we ever speak to another about anything they should correct? vs. 3-5 we need to remove anything wrong in our own lives before we can talk to them bout anything wrong in their own lives.

    3. We are not to throw pearls before swine to trample them or give holy things to dogs that will tear us apart. (vs. 6) What kind of holy things or treasured pearls do you think this is talking about and what kind of people would return this treatment? The word pearls in the above scripture refers back to the word holy in the previous phrase, and is the metaphor for godly wisdom and the kingdom of God.

    4. Write out the Golden Rule from Scripture. vs. 12 - Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

If we continue to knock, what will happen?

vs. 8 - to him that knocketh it shall be opened

    6. We would not give someone a snake that asked for a fish, would we? If we have a side that knows evil as well as good and we seek to give 'good' gifts to our children ... what can we know the Father will give to us? vs. 10 -

    7. Describe the Wide Gate that most enter through. vs. 13 - is the one that leads to destruction, and death in the end

The Narrow Gate leads to life. How many find it? vs. 13 - few

    8. We are to beware of false prophets who come to us. What will they have the 'appearance' of ? vs. 15 - they appear to be gentle, as sheep, but inside they are as wolves,

What are they like inside? vs. 15 - hungry wolves

We won't know them by what they say or how they look or even by their miracles they do! We can be fooled by these good things and good words.

What does vs. 22 tell us they may do in "His" Name? prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works.

Yet, He says that He never 'knew' them meaning they never had a relationship with Him that changed their insides and produced Christlike 'character' in them. He said they practice 'lawlessness'. (vs.23)

So, how are we to know? What are we to inspect about a person that is teaching about Him? (vs.16-20) Ye shall know them by their fruits

    9. What kind of foundation did the wise man that 'acted' on the words have? What kind of storm came and how did the house stand? vs. 24-25 -
wise man built his house on the Rock and when the storms came it stood firm. However, the foolish man built on the sands, and when the winds came and rains, it was destroyed. OUr lives need to be built upon the solid Rock,Christ Jesus, so that we can withstand any storms that satan throws across our paths.

    10. What kind of foundation did the foolish man that 'heard' but 'did not act' on the words have? What kind of storm came and how did the house stand? vs. 26-27 - it was built on the shifting sand, and when the storm came, it fell and was totally destroyed.
